I won't get tired until I get a realistic range of average compensations.

Average comp is very similar. HF varies more though (some funds pay a lot better than others).

Range: $100,000 to $1,000,000 at a HF Range: $100,001 to $999,999 at a PE

You're not going to like this answer, but the simple fact is that even a mediocre career in high finance (including sell-side) is going to give you a tremendous amount of income relative to 99% of the human beings on the planet, and both the ceiling and your actual happiness have a lot more to do with if you're actually any good at your job/have any sort of passion for it than which kind of excel monkey you choose to be at age 26.

If you're obsessed with maximizing the amount of money you make early in life, try selling drugs.
