Help me rank these universities

Hi all,

I know that 90% of this board is comprised of people (like myself) who haven't worked in IBanking, and that 90% of the board is also USA-centric... but if anyone feels remotely qualified, could they please help me rank these universities in terms of either their finance reputation or just general reputation:

Queen's University

McGill University

University of British Columbia

University of Hong Kong

University of Edinburgh

Royal Holloway (University of London)

University of Pennsylvania

The reason I ask is because I currently go to a good university in Australia... but quite frankly I'm sure even the best Asutralian uni's don't mean shit when you're putting in a job application in the UK/US. These universities above are my options for a year on exchange.

What do we all think?

Best are McGill and University of Pennsylvania.

My preception is that the University of London is only great for LSE, Imperial and UCL. With LSE having a large advantage over the other two.

Just my perception though as I've never even been to the UK...

UPenn would definitely have the best reputation. However, like others have said, McGill and Queens is also good. I'd go to McGill just because it's up there and it's in Montreal--heard about the party scene? If you're going on exchange, I don't think 1 semester would decide you from another candidate, but any international experience is good experience in my opinion...

To work in the US:

U Penn U London McGill

To work in Europe

U London U Penn McGill

To work in Canada McGill U Penn U London

Being Canadian I can only comment on McGill and Queens. For Queens, they are extremely good for finance probably the best(Canada) right under Ivey. I know last summer 3 guys got into GS NY/TO. These guys were very qualified, two of them did ibanking interships at good firms in second year and were able to leverage that into NY which is what it takes to get into BB NY coming from Canada sometimes. Im estimating they send around 10-15ish ppl a year to ibanking every year. This is pretty good considering the top business programs only have around 300 people and obviosly not everyone pursues ibanking at Queens (marketing, accounting etc as well) like at Ivey so that is probably why there placements arent as good. You guys gotta remember, part of the reason why Ivey is so good is because basically everyone there enters third year (recruiting year) with an 80+ avg since that is a requirement to stay in the program...so its more the outstanding individual that gets the ibanking job rather than the school in the case of ivey being so good, but its still both.

McGill, although it is a very very good school and is strong in ibanking placements especially into the states...I have no idea why Americans regard it AS high as they do. I mean its not that hard to get accepted into McGIll(they dont even take extracurriculars into consideration only marks...so think about what type of ppl can sneak in). In Canada, the big five ibanks prefer Ivey, Schulich, Queens, UofT over McGIll. But I will admit they have good placements into the states, probably cause of their rep with americans again. In fact, most of the Canadians I have met on Wall St. have done their undergrad in McGill.

Which Australian Uni do you go to?

If you go to Uni of: Melbourne, Sydney, New South Wales..... then you have a decent shot if you are high distinction avg. and a mo'fo.

Oz' uni is much more difficult than usa uni btw.
