Help me with some info on these groups!

I will be working for WFC. Let's assume I work in SanFran. I haven't decided on a group and wanted some info on these groups from experienced professionals or other knowledgeable people.

Industrials Consumer Healthcare & Gaming Financial Sponsors Technology Media & Telecom

  1. I'm assuming that all of these groups do a good deal of modeling. While modeling is great, its not really my forte, so can anyone elaborate on which requires the least amt of modeling on avg?

  2. Also, if anyone can elaborate on which are more likely to be sweatshops than the others, I would appreciate that as well. I know its IB and I will get long hours anywhere, I just hear some things (CH) are way more intense than others.

  3. Exit ops are nice. I assume for CHG/TMT, exit ops into PE/HF are possible. I am not sure about the other 2 though. IF you have knowledge on exit ops from these groups, please help.

Let me know what you would do if you were picking among these groups and why. I know its a personal decision and varies by person, but I am not asking for you to make my decision. I just want to pick your brains.

Thanks a lot.

I can't answer all your questions but I can answer a few of them.

CH usually has longer hours than other groups, but it was because there were more dealflows in the past year in that sector compared to something like FS. All four of them have a chance to be really long hours especially TMT nowadays. I talked with a lot other bankers and they said tech industry is definitely picking up.

One thing about wells TMT though if you do decide to go into that group. A group of Wachovia tech senior people left to join Sagent, and they were responsible for most of the Wachovia's tech revenue. So I am not sure how good they are now after the leave, you might want to ask the people in that group more about it.
