Help With Wells Fargo Placement

Well known that the placement is shit for SA's. Was wondering if there are any tips/tricks to maximize chances of getting a NY office? Also how soon is too soon is terms of reaching out to people already? Been trying to do that and response rate is well below than what it was when i was trying to get interviews...

Although IB placement for Wells has been historically quite bad, the odds of making NYC are much better now. Wells is now sending 55% of kids to New York, with top groups like Lev Fin being based in CLT and E&P in Houston, it is very easy to place in NYC if that is your top priority. Almost everyone I know who wanted NY got it.

so when you are ranking groups, should i rank all the ny groups first and then the charlotte ones?

Incoming Wells Intern here. Can say that a lot of it matters on where you ranked for location and group during the application process. Don’t know too much on the placement process itself, but HR did indicate they can fill up groups before that process even happens (told to me when I got my offer). reach out to your interviewers during SD and first round for some leads and intros.

S&T side… maybe it’ll help you? They sent out an initial placement survey asking for location/ desk preferences and which was more important to me. I picked a more niche desk than most and placed priority on product not location. Ended up being sent exactly where I wanted for what I wanted (product only has 1 location).

I think for IB they have placement events? Not sure how much I can help ya here. Best advice would be to network like crazy in divisions/ locations you’re interested in.
