Holy Crap My Internship Sucks

Hello,
I am a rising junior at NYU Stern and am hoping to get into investment banking. I am a URM, but due to things going on at home, I didn't get to make any of the cool minority program deadlines. I will be much more on the ball about this, but right now I am doing an unpaid internship in NYC at what was told to me what more or less a REIT. They lied. I accepted the offer and was really excited, but then after about a month in, I found out that none of their investments are really off of the ground, and I have been doing little more than posting apartment rentals on Craigslist. I am trying ferociously to find another internship, but everything is pretty much taken. Did I shoot myself in the foot here? I see everyone else having these great internships, being dressed up always, and getting to do a bunch of company activities, while I am at work everyday in shorts and a tee, translating documents into spanish or posting stuff on craigslist. What should I do? Should I stick it out? Should I quit now? Am I screwed for OCR IB?

Your sophomore summer internship really doesn't matter....most people take classes or babysit...

And like Edmundo said, it's all about how you spin it... I had being a barista on my resume and I'll be working in a BB TMT group....

If you really want something substantive, just ask to be more involved...what's the worst that can happen? They won't take you back? From the way you describe it, that sounds like they would be doing you a favor!

Cheers
