I would shoot your shot after the internship ends but try to keep it casual. Where if she's down you'll know and if she's not feeling the vibe you can play it off as 'we interned together/were actually colleagues'.
I had some pretty good experience with this and hooked up with a lawyer from the company I was working at for a summer (after internship ended). 9 year age difference but she kept fit for a 29 year old.
