Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights and advice for your situation:
Resume Timing and Accuracy:
It's crucial to maintain accuracy on your resume. Misrepresenting your current status can backfire during interviews or background checks.
Instead of listing Mays Business School prematurely, you can mention your current status and your expected transition. For example: "Blinn TEAM Major, Expected Transfer to Mays Business School, Texas A&M University (End of School Year 2024)."
Highlighting Relevant Experience:
Emphasize your internships at Encap in Houston and OTC Global Holdings. These experiences are valuable and can significantly bolster your resume.
Detail the skills and responsibilities you handled during these internships to showcase your practical experience in finance and commodities trading.
Networking and Application Strategy:
Continue networking with alumni and professionals in your desired field. This can help you gain insights and potentially secure interviews.
Apply for positions with your current credentials, but be transparent about your expected transition to Mays Business School. This shows your commitment and future plans without misrepresenting your current status.
Application Timing:
If you are concerned about being behind in the timeline, consider applying early but ensure your resume reflects your current status accurately.
You can update potential employers about your transition to Mays Business School during interviews or in follow-up communications.
By following these steps, you can present a strong and honest application while highlighting your relevant experience and future plans.
Like you're about to enter sophomore year? Don't think you've missed out yet if that's the case but maybe I'm wrong. Did you miss the boat on AOWS applications / Horizons? I thought those began during fall of sophomore year but no idea how quickly they've moved up those processes in recent years, but those are the most surefire pipelines to IB from a&m. If you have the GPA north of 3.7 and are networking heavy then don't see why you won't be able to land first round interviews. Now if you're about to be a junior most of the spots are likely locked up so the 5th year can definitely give you the reset you might need.
