How did trader steal food? Asking for a friend

Do you guys remember that  Citigroup trader (making  $1 million+ a year) who got suspended for stealing food from the company cafeteria?

How did this guy do it? Is there not a checkout where you have to walk through first or something? Did he just order his food and leave with it?

If anyone else can please detail their experiences with borrowing food from BB cafeterias, that would be extremely helpful.
