How do outside PE firms and lateral hiring processes know who the best analysts are?
How can they know? Do analysts recommend senior recommendations? Is it deal experience? I'm especially curious how they differentiate lateral hires and how you can prove yourself in the interview.
They call up one of their buddies at the bank and ask them to force rank them. My firm doesn't have anybody call them but at other firms, best to cozy up to this guy.

My bank will destroy analysts who they find iout are recruiting against them because of the clawback two year contract. Be careful around them.
