How do SPACs identify target companies
Title pretty much sums up my question. I am doing a research report focusing on SPACs and having trouble finding how SPACs find target companies. Are investment bankers pitching ideas to the SPAC leadership? I was thinking it's probably some sort of mix of internal sourcing and using bankers or brokers. Any help or good resources for me to look into would be much appreciated.
top intel told me these days they get the analyst to pull up a 1000+ company factset screen on a 100 inch TV and then throw a dart
the pipe they then raise pays for 500 more tvs so they raise another spac weeks later
1) Internal sourcing as well as 2) banks pitching their sell-side mandates and 3) their buy-side advisors screening for potential targets to approach
I'll add that the founders of SPACs are usually senior in their respective industries and/or famous so they'll have a lot connections of their own. Otherwise the comment above sums it up perfectly.
