How does Full-Time Networking Work?

Hi all,

There's a lot of resources regarding undergrad networking for SA or FT recruitment, and the networking was pretty standardized. Sending out emails with the same format: Hi my name is Name, I'm a [year] studying [major] at school. I'm interested in IB etc., associated with a resume drop to determine if they want to talk to you. Then the introduction in the call is just a reiteration of yourself, experience, and interest in IB

But how does this work in Full-Time networking work? Is the etiquette different in sending out emails and how I introduce myself in the call? Or am I limited to the in-person conventions, fireside chats, or finance events? What if I'm not looking to lateral to their firm in specific, but wanted to learn more about their career?

What’s the point of networking if it’s not oriented towards getting a job (or building business)? Either you’re reaching out because you want a job or because you want to learn more about a role/group/firm/industry to see if you want a job in it.

Also, networking is the exact same once you’re out of college except instead of being a wide eyed college student, you’re a professional that has real questions, reasons for wanting to join/leave your firm, and can connect on the actual job. You’re still sending out emails, sharing resumes, asking questions, asking to be connected to others, etc.
