How does one get a BB/EB Summer Internship without being a URM/connection hire?
Currently in the military, will be attending a target school in 2 years; hope to end up at a top EB (think EVR/PJT/CVP). Obviously an uphill task for anyone, so I think a summer internship at a BB or even an EB may be necessary to set me apart from other candidates, but how would I get these internships without being in the aforementioned demographics? If it helps, I would have had at least 1 (hopefully 2) IB internships at boutiques by the time I'm on campus. Also, do correct me if I'm wrong to believe that such an internship is important in the first place.

You go through all the motions that everyone else goes through
Networking, Technical prep, behavioral prep
If you're going to a target school, then join all the relevant clubs, make some connections in those clubs, and learn the ins and out of recruiting
Tons of kids get hired to BB/EB without being URM or having special connections (other than the ones they make through basic networking ofc)
I networked with someone who did
Booz consulting -> JPM SA -> EVR SA-> EVR FT and just finished up his first year. He got each job through diversity programs. So consider networking with vets from those banks and try and follow a similar path
If you’re going to target school reach out to any and all former military folks, regardless of where they served.
They will pull for you.
