How far can you stretch a start date?
How far in advance could you realistically push back on a lateral hire start date without them withdrawing their offer?

bump.
Banks can be flexible but I'd play on the conservative side. 50 years, maybe two centuries, tops.
Good question.
I guess it partly depends on what has been said so far.
Eg they asked me for my notice period, which is on the higher end, but I said that an earlier start might be possible. But you cannot say you're available immediately and then ask for a 3 months delay..
Just lost an offer for pushing out start date to far. I communicated to CFO I was coming in from another state, he allowed me to extend 2 weeks - had some minor issues during the move and needed more time. Got a very nice email from HR the next day saying my offer will be rescinded. I guess it’s case by case but wouldn’t push it out to far. You’re 1 in a dozen.
Could you elaborate a bit? Kinda insane to me there was just no way to figure out a solution
