How important is your age for your first job?
Hi,
I am currently 22yo and will finish my bachelor's a bit before I turn 23. Now I do wanna do a master's degree, preferably a two-year program. However, this would mean that I would start my first job (if all goes well) by the time I am 25 yo and 2 months.
Is this too old or when do you think someone is too old to do a first-year analyst stint?
Also, I am from Europe, don't know if this is relevant, though.
A lot of people from my school (Sweden) join IBD after a master around that age.
A master is far from necessary and is extremely not worth money wise, but it is not an issue at all. Just make sure you have good internships during your studies etc
I know that a Masters is not necessary but its my only hope of breaking into IB tbh. So its kind of a desperation move
One of the analysts in my class used a masters program. Doesn't make any difference in any interactions with other analysts or associates.
Oh great and longterm career development? Do people look down on you, since you took longer to reach a certain stage? Or is it more complicated to recruite to PE?

Ah, well if you don't have any relevant internships in the past a master is a great path. A lot of my friends had 0 experience at the beginning of their master, then proceeded with an off-cycle, into SA into FT-offer during the master.
