How long does a Background check usually take?

WTF I received an offer back around Easter. But they told me they would have to do some background checks before sending the contract over. I got an email last week with apologies that it has taken them so long and saying they hope they'll send it over until the end of the week.

Tbh I have lost count but all in all i think it has taken 6 weeks and i still didn't receive the contract.

Btw. The company isn't some shitty small time bank but among the top 5 (think GS, MS, EVC, Centerview, Lazard/PJT).

Anyone of.you experienced something similar? I am tired if this and I just want to sign the thing and finally have definitive assurance that I got the job.

Unfortunately they did not. According to their last email everything is ok from their office (europe) but so far they havent gotten the approval from.the US Office.

Never said anything about how long it should take. Except one time they mentioned that they hope they'll send me the contract by the end of the week (which was week)

ugh I'm sorry, I can imagine it's a bit frustrating. I am also going through the process and was told 10 business days and it has been past that. I think there is no need to worry but don't be afraid to check in and ask if there is anything else you can do
