How Long Does Spreading Comps Take?
Trying to learn the tasks bankers actually do and was going through the Rosenbaum and Pearl Book on Comparable Companies chapter. The process seems very much time intensive (specially if you have lots of comps) from calendarization, gathering data, calculating each comp's fully diluted shares outstanding.
As practice run, it took me forever to create one set of comparable companies (like several days).
Some questions: How long does it take for those on the desk? What are some tips to get faster? Are comps the most time-consuming "analysis" process of IB?

Takes like 30min pre-scrub with FactSet / CapIQ. Also depends on verticals (niche = hand spread / broad coverage = platform pulls).
usually companies have templates which make the work much easier.
the time consuming task is checking that the templates have pulled numbers correctly for all the comps.
