It doesn't work like that. The CIM is just one of the marketing documents within a broader sellside process. Typically, the sellside bank and the target company will negotiate an engagement letter that specifies a fee that will be paid at the time of closing. The CIM specifically doesn't have a cost but rather, it's part of the work that will be happen as part of the deal.

I'm genuinely curious what its cost is independently.
If I had to guess, maybe a 1/3 of the fee is allocated to the CIM/MP, another 1/3 for the model/financial analysis, and the last 1/3 for running the DD process. This is just a guess based on time/effort. Wouldn't pay more than $500k for a CIM if I were to get it independently though - it's just a PPT at the end of the day.
Helpful. The 1/3 * 3 structure seems a reasonable guess. Yeah at the end of day it's a PPT with some simplified model/financial analysis in it.
Feel like $500K is pretty steep though.
