How much does a great freshman and/or soph internship help?

Say you had a freshman and soph internships at a bb or eb for ibd, how much of an advantage would you be at for junior recruiting? I ask because all the people I see on Linkedin with bb internship during soph years always end up at a top bank and top group like GS TMT or something. Does it put you significantly ahead of the rest of your classmates?

Of course it helps. Freshman and sophomore BB internships are very rare unless you are a woman or URM (even then it's rare). If you're a white or Asian kid who got an internship, chances are you have the background to be successful (wealthy parents, target school, grades, etc.)

With all that being said, there's no reason to fret if you don't have a BB internship. Understand that they are rare, and you can still get into a BB (and possibly a top group) without that kind of experience.

If you don't know anything, I don't see anyway you will be able to do FO work, even with your father's connections. If this is something you're serious about, you should prepare.

If you're father has connections to BB PWMs, that experience is also great, though it's certainly not at the same level as FO.
