How technical are Hong Kong SA interviews?
Preparing for upcoming 2025 SA Investment Banking interviews in Hong Kong. Was wondering how technical they are - heard it was somewhere between UK and USA. Not sure exactly how to quantify that when studying. Would the basic M&I 400 questions suffice with good understanding? Or is that overkill? Or should I also prep advanced? Do we have to know paper LBO, explain all of that, M&A modelling questions, etc?
I have some technical stuff written (DCF etc) on CV that is technical so obviously will be preparing that. But how much beyond this will it go? Thanks.
Typical flow:
1. Self intro in Chinese
2. Explain 3 statement/dcf in English
3. “Let’s switch back to Chinese”, behaviourals
4. End
Thanks for answering. No technicals beyond 3-statement and DCF? Is M&I 400 overkill? Also, how important is networking do you think if MD vouch for you?
