How to ask for a reference to meet someone in a different office?

I'm trying to find people in nearby offices ie. Outside NYC, Near Boston, CT Area but all of their contact info says "Greater New York City Area" on Linkedin. I spoke to people at these firms in the NYC offices but how do I communicate that I want to speak to someone in a different office? The end goal is either a off cycle internship or trying to get a full time offer. Would saying "I saw company XYZ has an office in XYZ, are you familiar with anyone at that office/do you have any insight about that particular office"?
