How to Fix Tone in Interviews

I have a dliemma. All the advice given for interviews is 1. sound excited and 2. act like you're talking to a friend. Whenever I try to sound excited, however, I feel like it comes off too fake and rehearsed and I sound like a politician talking to an audience.

On the other hand, if I try to sound natural/talking to a friend I don't sound enthusiastic at all because I'm normally a very low energy conversationalist and aren't easily excited by things.

Any advice on how to mix the two and really perfect your voice/tone in interviews? Any method/strategy you guys do that helps?

Except I sound the exact same in dates and most of the time I'm just smug and playful so don't think that would work on my interviewer

Your voice is probably fine then?

Maybe the only over tips I can share (because I similarly can be monotonous):

* For phone interviews and probably just generally, smile. It will force you to speak in a way that, even subtly, sounds more enthusiastic.

* For in-person or video, be more expressive with your body language. People don't communicate on one plane. So holistically you won't look uninterested with interested body language.
