How to not burn bridges w/ Boss’s Colleague

Hi! Hope y'all are having a good day!I am in a bit of a dilemma. For context I am a sophomore at a target school currently doing an internship at an investment banking boutique in NY. During one of the deals that I worked on, my boss introduced me to a higher up (think Senior Vp/principal/MD) of Bank of America Leasing (I believe it's a subsidiary of BofA securities). Now he never mentioned that he worked at BofA, but after checking his profile on LinkedIn, it looks like he has been working there for almost 20 years so I assume that he is pretty well connected across the bank. Now I wanted to ask if it would be okay to just email him with "(insert boss name) intern interested in Bank of America" as the subject and then send him a personalized networking email asking him for a chat or if I should I ask my boss if that's okay first as I don't want to overstep with that connection. Bank of America is my top choice bank going into recruitment so I definitely don't want to mess this up. Is it even worth asking to network with him since he isn't in the IB division? And if I do make the call, what should I be aiming for? A referral to someone in the IB division? I would appreciate any advice or thoughts :)
