How to start networking for 2023 internships?

I am a current freshman at a non target university (UConn/URI/UNH) interning in both PWM and accounting this summer. I really don't know much about the recruiting process and im sure there have already been many post related to this one on this forum before. Im seeking an analyst position preferably IB however im also interested in ER. Should I start reaching out to smaller boutiques and alumni and just try and get people on the phone which hopefully leads to a position next year? I live in NYC which I am going to try and use to my advantage, my plan is to apply to every internship I can than reach out privately to boutiques that may not have job postings. Any advice would be greatly appreciated I have no idea wtf im doing or how I should approach this.
