How useful would an online MSF from WUSTL be?

https://olin.wustl.edu/EN-US/academic-programs/on…

This is the program. I am planning to do something as I have been laid off during this pandemic. I Live in India and have been pursuing the iMBA from UIUC which won't really help me out with my goals I feel. What do you think of the WUSTL program that I mentioned

What are your goals? That program (same goes for the iMBA) is very unlikely to get you any US job. Online degrees are not worth the huge amount of money they cost.

The most well-trodden paths from India are either to get an analyst or corporate finance role in India and transition over to EU/US in a few years, or get into a top 15 MBA (you cannot hold an iMBA and do this path) and try to get sponsorship for a job after school.

Why are you going back to school now instead of back to work?

Thank you for your reply. I have an undergrad degree from Bocconi with pretty bad grades and had to come back to india because of work visa issues. All my network is in europe. I got into a few on campus programs like HEC Lausanne, UCD Strategic management, Cass and Durham Msc corporate finance and was eyeing UCD because it allows me to stay in europe upon graduation. Getting any sort of jobs in india are very tough without campus placements or contacts. My aim is to get into corporate banking. Even with UIUC and Bocconi on my CV, I am being edged out by people who graduated from the worst unis in the country. I talked to alumni from HEC Paris, Esade, IE etc and all of them are facing the same problems. What do you think about completing the iMSM instead of the iMBA and then apply for a top masters in business analytics next year? I am 25 right now and tbh i would like to get any job before it is too late. Like most of my peers from my country, I dont care what the job is about. I have internships at fortune 500s ranging from corp fin to consulting. Ideally, I my aim is consulting or product management. I also enjoy modeling etc too but am not interested in i banking and i think that boat has sailed too.

I am going back to school because it will help me to transition to Europe etc as my entire network is there and i have lived there for 6 years.

The chances of you getting a role in Europe with any “i” degree are a rounding error away from 0%.

Unless you can network your way into a job in Europe right now, or get onto an in-person MFin/MFE etc and get very lucky with the battle for a visa, your only choice is to do what the other poster suggested: get a role in India and then transfer offices internationally.
