How would you interpret this

recently had an interview, thought it went very well...sent a thank you to the bankers...they responded by saying, "it was nice meeting you, we'll be in touch once we have an idea of the headcount we are able to add."

i mean, there's atleast one position open i'm assuming? why else interview candidates? i see this response as a positive to some extent...let me know what you think.

i definitely wouldn't count on any one place, keep on looking for places and see if you can get multiple offers just in case something else falls through/you don't get the position for the interview you thought you nailed. had a similar type of response after an interview for a summer analyst internship at a BB and didn't get it.

Yup, don't put too much thought into replies that aren't "No we cannot give you an offer" or "Yes we'd like you to join". Keep gunning and good luck.

stop overthinking it. That's what they usually say in the emails after interviews. Although my thank you notes rarely get answered back.
