Hows Healthcare IB deal flow?
Just accepted an SA24 position at a fast-growing HC boutique firm. Was just wondering how HC deal flow has been, expected to be in 2024, any specific vertical(s) with stronger flow etc. Ty!

Congrats on your new position! Based on the most helpful WSO content, the Healthcare Investment Banking (HC IB) deal flow has been quite strong.
Over the past 5 years, there has been a significant change in the capital markets/M&A space, with a lot of strategic buyers and PE firms showing interest.
Consolidation in the healthcare providers sector seems to be a constant trend, contributing to a stable M&A market.
In terms of verticals, there's been a lot of activity in HCIT (Healthcare Information Technology). Last year was a record year for HCIT in terms of M&A and healthcare issuance. Big tech and medtech players are also acquiring HCIT companies, not just the big HCIT guys buying the smaller ones.
For PE buyers, consolidation still matters - it’s a great way to patch together a bunch of different businesses and offer solutions across a broad set of needs.
The market for telemedicine was booming in 2020, but it seems to have cooled down a bit recently.
As for the future, it's hard to predict with certainty, but given the ongoing trends and the constant need for new solutions in healthcare, it's likely that the deal flow will remain strong.
Remember, the healthcare sector is far from being perfect in this country, so new solutions keep emerging, which could lead to more opportunities in the future.
