HR woman avoiding me?
Hey everyone,
So I had a first-round interview with a prestigious Asset Management firm, and it went really well. The HR rep invited me back for a second-round interview with a few asset managers in the office. She told me to call her to set up a date, and I could come back anytime I liked.
I called her the next week to set up a date (within two weeks) and she said she would have to check her calendar and she would get back to me. Waited a week, and she never got back to me, so I sent her an email. She never got back to my email, so I called her again, and she told me again that she would have to check her calendar and she would send me an email to confirm.
I am not sure how to handle this - She really got my hopes up for attaining the position. I don't think I am being annoying or bothersome; I think I am being persistent because I need an answer so I can figure out my plans. Plus, I already got the second round, I just need to set up the date!
Any advice? Could she possibly be having second thoughts? I know she is really busy. Even during my interview she was doing a million things at once...

Yes, my interview was with the HR woman, and she really liked me. She said "you are the type of person we are looking for," and subsequently invited me for a second round to meet with some of the AMs.
She was doing a million things at once during the interview and she told me how busy she is all the time, so while I do think there is a chance that my "status may have changed" as you stated, I do also think that I am just not on her priority list right now, even thought she still may be interested in my candidacy.
Anyone else ever have this problem?
People are just plain busy. Rule of thumb is that you will clearly get paranoid from hearing nothing. Relax and ping them an email.
People are never that busy, people pretend they are, theya re full of crap.
Reality is it takes 5 minutes to set something like that up. Shes just being a bitch and likes to feel she is busy and important.

One scenario is that they are interviewing someone that is their top choice and want to see how that offer evolves. If you're still being told there is an interest, then there is interest.
Also, how long did you wait to call her back once she told you they were interested in another round? The next day or did you wait another week?
Unfortunately, I think you're going to have to wait it out. The best strategy I like is to interview at other places and leverage those processes to push for the jobs you want more....shows you're desirable and it doesn't make you look desperate inquiring about your status.
