I cannot get past first round IB summer analyst interviews, I don't know why

Every firm I've applied for this cycle has given me either an asynchronous, virtual zoom call, phone call, and even an in person first round. However, I cannot get past the first round stage and I don't really know why. When I applied to internships in VC, every thing I applied to I would get an offer for, also for other things like academic research positions and on campus jobs. But for IB, I just can't crack it so far. I do think I'm getting better though, after each interview.

Not sure what you're trying to do by commenting this under every post. Its honestly just cringe and makes the school look bad

thanks for this suggestion, i appreciate it a lot. i'll do a mock interview and ask for honest feedback. i think i know what's off and i'll try to fix it.

Based on my experience this cycle, I have found that personality truly trumps technical knowledge at least in first rounds... This is not meant to sound overly harsh but as other users have said, I think you need to ask a trusted mentor/someone who has gone through this process before to be very honest about your behavioral answers/the way you present in interviews. First rounds are typically not too technical heavy so if you have basic accounting and valuation questions prepared, it really comes down to whether the interviewer can see themselves working with you or not (since the interviewers are usually juniors).
