I got into Villanova. What’s an achievable finance career as a hard worker who has shit to prove
One of my acceptances. Just curious if it will really help me bolster my career.

Financial Manager 36A (US Army). You will pay $75K to be in an even worse position than you are now. Villanova does not place.

Villanova places mostly middle office, WM, and cap markets in terms of investment banking. Of course there are a few kids who beat the odds every year - but generally speaking only nepos get decent placement
thanks this was more what I was looking for.
I looked through LinkedIn and saw a few places into MS and GS for capital/global markets. Would you say those are the kids who beat the odds? Most alumni I looked through in higher positions are older, which I am assuming is because Villanova was higher ranked at that time.
pm'ed you
You can make it into any industry you want out of there. The part you might not like hearing is that you are somewhat limited on "brand name" unless you go to a top MBA program too. You can work at a LMM/MM IB/PE firm with the right moves and come from no name schools, but to get into the big-name shops they recruit from the same few schools everyone already knows. If you're alright with working at a shop that no one's really heard of (but still work in IB/PE and make great money), then you're doing great at Villanova.
An alum of Villanova who Patrick interviewed ~5-6 years ago (saw this years ago and enjoyed it, might be worth checking out):
