happypantsmcgeeSo you immediately offered him the position right?

haha...no. I'm not in a position where I decide if he gets it or not.

After he left today, we caucused together (5 of us), he had 4 / 5 people's support, including mine. Apparently, the girl who went to same school as his, she had not-so-impressive things to say.

anyways, if he's reading it, he's got the job. will find out later this friday or monday morning first thing :)

Quite a bit of disclosure Don - won't it be kind of awkward between the kid and the girl who mentioned the not-so-impressive things if one or both of them reads this?

very in-ur-face kind of culture. wont be surprised if the partner asked her to go in detail about why she said no and explain it to this guy we just hired, what u didnt like and how he could've improved it.

then ball in her court. Which , i think, is fair. she had legit reason for sayin no, but 4 out of 5 had good and great reviews.

Hahahaha... what a way to welcome the guy.

Welcome to the team John - 4 of us thought you did great. But Sally here thought you were a bit of a douche. Now we believe in helping our people grow, so she's going to go into detail on why she thought you sucked. I understand she put together a powerpoint presentation... We've got another meeting soon, so let's keep the Q&A at the end to 5 mins...

Don Corleonewe were talking about resources that someone can use to prepare for interviews, I mentioned vault, google etc. and he mentioned " WSO is a pretty good place"

he did well anyways. really down to earth and very strong work ethic.

Don, your response should have been, "yeah, I probably helped you prepare for this interview on WSO"

ha, great stuff.

its pretty good forum to discuss anything from vagina to wacc calculations. and everyone mofo has a strong opinion....which makes it exciting.

when i took this pe job, i didnt know shit about modeling (dont come from banking background)...i bought that modeling breaking into wall street thing....it was pretty good, got me the job and i keep that apple model they built as desktop icon just in case need some reference.

a toast for WSO [ glenlivet on rocks ] for keeping all the wolves on one forum

Don, you're not supposed to put stuff like that out there about the decision process. It will come back to haunt the alumna, and then it will eventually come back to haunt you when she rats you out on a decision.

One of the guys who interviewed me on-site became my senior mentor. And he taught me NEVER to talk about the decision- even if one of the people I hire becomes a mentee- unless everyone who voted against the person has left the firm.

Yeah... I kind of thinking the same w/ my first disclosure comment.

Don - if you want to play it safe, I can go back and edit my posts to get rid of the evidence (refs to your comments). Otherwise... congrats to the dude (Logan?) who got the job.

Its no big deal, really. We're a less than 20 people group, 12 of them are senior, 4 of us in middle and remaining 4 are analyst/associate. she's summer analyst who was part of team who met the candidate. its OK if she wasnt impressed, that's the whole point of meeting diff people so u can get a wide range of opinions.

appreciate the concern ya'll, didnt get any PMs.
