I See Zero Good Reason Not to Unload My Entire Bonus Into TQQQ
Update: Which one of you ratings monkey fucks downgraded the US debt the day after I yeeted my entire bonus into triple levered bull etf????
Look at the 5-year performance of any beginning and end point and that kitty purrs. It outperforms regular QQQ (over most intervals massively) and as it pertains to regular ole QQQ, that dog CAN hunt.
Someone talk me out of dumping $60K cash into TQQQ.
Following
Qqq is better for that long of a time horizon because of the decay factor from leveraged etfs
5-Year Returns from each:
TQQQ: +175%
Le Virgin QQQ: +112%
I get in theory what you're saying but in practice it seems TQQQ has outperformed over long intervals. Only during short intervals in which the market is falling does QQQ do better. Unless we get surprising economic data and a rebound of hellish inflation or something and rates have to keep going up, I feel like riding the rebound with TQQQ wouldn't be a bad idea.
Holding 3x levered etfs for a long time is a foolproof strategy with no risk whatsoever
Over the next 12 months I think the QQQ index will continue to rise and thus TQQQ will outperform over that horizon. Not going to hold forever. Do you feel opposite that there's likelihood of further pullback on Nasdaq stocks in the NTM?
For context QQQ YTD is 44% and TQQQ YTD is 166%, obvious reasons, higher risk, blah blah blah. But it's not an outlandish idea imo to dump $60K into it.
as an Associate I would assume the 60k won't be a majority of your net worth so I'd say the risk/reward is worth it. I'd probably DCA into it personally though.
If you really do this then use a hedge. There are people who invest in a levered index etf and a levered treasury etf with quarterly rebalancing but the backtested results haven't convinced me versus concentrated high risk stocks. Then again I'm a bit dumb.
Everyone whining abt volatility decay is just jealous of the returns ppl who invest long term in leveraged etfs have experienced and want to convince themselves and others that they’re “right”. I’m also jealous. Instead, I’m gonna join the leveraged etf folks and ride the wave of high returns
bro wants to time the market and is asking if it’s a good idea
I am going to come back in 6 months and dunk on you if it works out. If it doesn't you'll never hear from me again.
even if you’re right, have fun paying short term capital gains tax or holding tqqq as a longer term play hahah. but yes if it’s up high in one year more power to you
just use margin and buy more QQQ to avoid decay. Probably a safer bet
if you're wrong, you have some margin interest at 13% annually. Not ideal, but as long as you have sufficient collateral, you'll be ok

Bro I'm also a 'vOlAtILiTy DraG' connoisseur but you want to buy in when the index has just implemented a special rebalance because it's been dragged up by a handful of AI hype names? It's your cash to burn
I love TQQ and put in 2g’s a month through dollar cost averaging but agree with other commentor to be mindful of enhanced losses that come with owning a leveraged etf in the event of a downturn
I don't know if TQQQ has volatility decay.
From all accounts it does not
I’ve put ~10k into TECL at the end of 2022 and am current up ~170%. Not expecting it to drop massively in the next 4 months so am comfortable holding to avoid ST cap gains tax. Might be wrong tho lol
This has aged extremely poorly already
Have some faith bruh. The rip comes in November of '24 when Donald J. Hotboi wins a third straight election and disbands the EPA, FBI, DOJ, CIA, Supreme court, ADL, Red Cross, Tenant Advocacy Groups, Medicare System, IRS and Fed Reserve. That is when my cup shall runith over.
Look for DWAC to become the next AAPL 12 months from V Day.
