IB CASE STUDY
Hi all
Can anyone give me an idea of what I can expect for a Case Study interview day? It's for M+A IB.. what type of preparation would be best? What do the case studies typically entail?

I've also seen you get a transaction database and have to make standard diligence outputs based on the data (top sales and margins by customer, geography, product group, etc.).
Last, I've also seen getting a teaser and talking about the good things about the business, along with getting a random set of public companies and highlighting ones you think would be good public company comparables for a given company and why

thank you so much. For public comps should you use the average of a few companies or can you just pick one with really close financial metrics?
I'd say you generally use an average / median of the comps set, but if your client is super niche and there's a comp that's very similar but fits in the broader comps set, you can place more weight on your multiple on the niche comp. Just talk through your rationale and you'll be good
