IB Internship Breaking In

Hope everyone is having a good day!

I am currently in my 2nd semester master student in finance at a non-target in nyc. I came straight up directly from a BBA in IS. I also have no prior professional experience beside a part-time job at a non-profit that is not relevant. I have passed the SIE as it was something I wanted to learn for the summer to know more about the securities industry.

After learning about different sectors of finance, I want to break into IB. Beside networking, I am not sure how to really break in or get pass resume screening as I lack the relevant experience. I have reached out to some of my friends in IB but the best they can do is just tell me to apply on the website.
