IB -> PE -> IB?
Is it common for IB analysts to go to the buy side, do 2-3 years as an associate and then return to IB as a VP for whatever reason?
Contemplating all options and just wondered if anyone has seen this before / can speak to this?

It happens from time to time for various reasons. Sometimes people realize they don't like the buyside and preferred sellside type work (i.e. less diligence, more sprinting / volume based work). Or they couldn't get promoted at their shop - higher barriers for buyside promotions. Or they don't want to do B-school to climb the ladder. Lots of reasons, but it happens.
