IB SA 2024 offer rescinded

HR just let me know my EB internship for next summer was rescinded because of "budget cuts". has this happened to anyone else?

All other banks stopped recruiting for 2024 IB SA so wtf do I do now? I heard FT recruiting is nearly impossible without ib internship, and what would I even tell to the guys I networked with at other firms since they know I accepted an internship somewhere else?? is it even worth going through recruiting again if this is how the industry treats incoming hires?

That sucks and I am sorry to hear. What bank was it?

I would let your prior contacts know what happened (they will understand) and see if they know of any opportunities. Next would be to target smaller firms that recruit later. If you get some IB experience next summer, you will at least have a chance at FT recruiting with extensive networking. Lmk if you have any questions.

Are you sure they would understand? I feel like they wouldn't care and wouldn't want to help out

What the hell?!?! Was this a regional boutique? So sorry to hear that mate.

Even thinking of this happening to me scares the shit out of me. Sorry man, wish you the best of luck!

I know that RBC LA recently rescinded their SA 2024 offers but doubt this is the firm OP is talking about

Holy shit, I had a couple of interviews with them and was so sad I didn't get it at the time. Guess it was a blessing in disguise

You're literally anonymus so no one would know it's you... what firm/group was this?

This is not PWP/MOE. I know this for a fact as me and my best friend are going to one of these banks. I think it is greenhill...

wow this is some next level fucked shit especially coming from an established shop (as you said it was an EB).

please don't forget to name and shame after you get your offer for somewhere else. good luck man shits tough out here.
