IB Sell Day
Will be a new FT IB analyst starting this summer..WFC
I have a sell day coming up and I'm really unfamiliar with the process. I think we just view some presentations, maybe mingle with the teams and then rank them as they rank us. i could be wrong.
If anyone has any experience with these days, can you enlighten me? I've looked on some threads but they werent that informative.
Also, do you think its important to review any technical information? I don't think there is any interview process right?
Basically, is there any information I should know before I get there? I didn't really plan on studying for this but I'm wondering if I'm underestimating the whole process. Do I need to be up to date on deals and shit for each of the groups?
Thanks.
make sure you don't screw up, you will regret it very much if you do. just don't screw the pooch on sell day, you will be sorry.
Can someone ban PiperJaffrayChiang? He is really annoying the entire board.
Is your sell day for Charlotte, NYC or SF?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I asked a serious question...
^ what's wrong madgames, no shiatsu this morning? you """"""""""""""""""semi target"""""""""""""""" scrub.
I think piperjaffraychiang is very amusing. Borderline sociopath, sure.
Piperjaffraychiang you've been on this site less than 3 months, I've been a member for more than three years.
Respect my friend, that's all I ask for.
Thx.
Yes sir!
but remember you rubbed your balls on my thigh first.
Any serious answers?
I think all you do is rank groups you want, nothing hard about it. I would consider M&A and their Consumer/Retail group, both very highly rated. The latter is a top 5 player in the U.S. with deals completed like Dollar's IPO, ToysRUs, Blackstone PE's djo acquisition, CVS, etc.
Where did you find that info Bravehart?
Reading past deals, and also its on their mainsite: http://www.wfwuevents.com/userdocs/events/CHG_Overview_v3.pdf
bump.
Any other perspectives out there?
I actually just put out a post on this very topic highlighting the general process, strategies and mistakes made in the IB superday. Feel free to check it out and remember, you've already landed the gig so you can relax and be yourself - but don't completely drop your guard if you want to land in your target group as you will be evaluated during the sell-day. Good luck.

are you evaluated on technical knowledge?
Great post BankonBanking. I also recommend their industrials group and of course M&A and levfin (top 5 player in US). Very solid up and coming BB so a good strategy might be to go for product groups first since its always a safe bet that they get the most dealflow with growth rather than trying to guess which industry group is going to get boosted.
bankonbanking: did you interview there? Do you know what kind of questions they ask? I also have interviews with a few other BB's like Citi and such, do you offer a interview guide on that website link under your name?
