IB/Asset Management background check

Any advice on my situation please?

I got a job offer from a BB bank, and currently in the process of getting my background check. The problem is that I can't get a verification letter from one of my internships back in 2012. It was a consulting firm in Korea, and unfortunately I didn't sign any contracts or get an offer letter.

When I contacted the company, the HR manager said I probably was under a subsidiary company, but she couldn't provide any contacts I should call. The only other contact I have is my past manager's email, but it seems like he doesn't use that company email anymore. So I'm at a dead end. I've tried everything I can to get in touch with anyone in this subsidiary company, but it seems like there's no contacts anywhere online and even the only phone number on the website just leads to the HR manager I contacted first (who would again say its a totally different company and that she can't help me)

There's a lot of suspicions I have on this company, especially since the HR manager refuses to tell me the contacts for this "subsidiary company", but I still don't have any employment verification and I'm freaking out.

I've had 3 internships in total, each in 2012, 2015 and 2016 and provided verification for the last two. Do you think I could possibly fail the background check if I can't provide anything for this internship 4 years ago?!

when I had my BB background check there was one company they couldn't contact, I just took a pic of me receiving payment from said company in my bank statement and sent it to HR and I was fine.

I gave a tax slip before from the company I worked for, if the position was unpaid it's a different story then. If that is the case I'd just discuss the situation with HR.

1) Don't bring it up unless asked. Most places are not going to be verifying an internship you had five years ago. You're not applying for the FBI or secret service.

2) If the BB asks about it, mention that you're having difficulty finding any contacts at the subsidiary (or whatever). Offer whatever evidence you have, such as a paycheck stub, email correspondence, etc.

3) If the BB keeps asking, redirect them to the HR person you mentioned. Keep in mind the BBs outsource all this background check work, so most likely the person actually verifying your information is some underpaid worker in India or Bangladesh and will quickly stop caring if they can't reach a simple answer.

The key is to be honest and let them worry about it.
