Got a summer offer for sophomore year summer at a BB IBD but in the long term I would like to do consulting (they don't recruit sophomores unless you are URM). Does doing banking help with recruiting for consulting, especially MBB? If so, what should I leverage & how do should I prepare this summer (as I will probably have little time of my own working in banking).

Definitely dude, a BB is probably recognized in many non-finance industries as well. Also, there are many parallels a BB analyst and an MBB analyst have in common (Being a good monkey, managing multiple deadlines, operating on little sleep, attention to detail, communication etc).
Don't discount banking as well / enter with a tainted view. It seems many people enter with 2 and out mindset but who knows, you might actually enjoy it buddy.
