Career Resources
I don't know if I should be answering this since I am trying to go for I banking.
However, if not I banking, then most likely I would've gone for portfolio and risk management or AI/Machine Learning Algorithms.
Music business -or- get a PhD and teach
Consulting
alaskan crab fisherman
army officer
USMC 2nd Lt
In order:
Lawyer, consulting, teach
play in the nhl
astronaut pirate
Real-estate development or sell-side equity research
Working at Google or Microsoft before they got huge..
probably music and clothing business
Selling crack to inner city school children.
...and then having sex with them.
dance (trance) music producer or professional tennis player
Selling crack to people who would in turn sell it to inner city school children and have sex with them.
Then tip off the media with a leak about a crack dealer have sex with kids, then I'll go to the police and in exchange for my testimony, I will be given a deal where I must stop selling crack, but I will go unpunished for my previous deeds and be able to keep my few million in cash under my bed tax free.
Then I will hear some news story about how some guy named Prescott Moncri got his salad tossed in jail while sipping from my classy Coors Light while enjoying a wonderful game of Monday Night Football.
Ari Gold's bitch, seriously, the movie industry would probably be as fast paced as banking.

Simple question: if you weren't an investment banker, management consultant (and therefore presumably not a hedge fund or private equity manager) but still wanted a career in business (not just finance btw), what would you do?
well I would be a psychiatrist. But in business? Real Estate Broker. Good Brokers in NYC can rake in half a mill a year. And it'd be fun meeting people and seeing fabulous residences. But RE brokering is one of the ultimate type-A/pound-the-pavement/hustle jobs.
GOOD brokers in NYC can pull in way more than half a mil a year.
This is exactly what I would be doing. If for some reason those didn't work out, I would probably just stick with the government, CIA, NSA or maybe the FBI or DEA.
Regards
I would be an Investment Baker
depends the city, i would try to break into RE development, if not maybe do what i do right now (Actuary)
I'm in finance at F500 so thats already different, but doing it all over again it would prob be:
Realistically....probably shoot for GE FMP program - great placement into a wide variety of roles.
Dream - something in real estate. Most likely development or agent. I'd like to be an agent, except I think 97$ of them make under $75k a year and are forced to work mostly nights and weekends. A high end agent would be pretty bad ass though
funny question. i tried to break into ib and failed. i have been working at a real estate investment group since 2008. and i think things worked out fine.
i tend to meet a lot of ex-ibankers in my line of work. it seems like the 'back-up' career for failed finance professionals.
economic development specialist
If I didn't go the bank route, I'd probably go work for the NSA or DoD.
a dancer.
Work for the FBI or something.
corporate strategy or entrepreneur
porn star, still contemplating actually
+1, already got the 'stache for it
Own a comedy club and manage stand up comics.
an economist
a subway driver. make over 100k and get to yell at people.
Professor of some type. Work 3 days a week and make a livable wage while doing whatever i wanted without the risk of being fired.
Most likely masturbate race horses. Family occupation for many years.

can't agree more than the economic development/economist threads/
Be a Vegas sports oddsmaker-somewhat similar job description if you think about it. Just research sports instead of businesses. How much you think those guys make?
That, or be a sports agent
Easy. Nuclear arms dealer.
A bank teller, chicks dig them.
A stripper
are trading and research options?
work for a start-up tech company (or start my own)
airline pilot
Drug dealer. I love having those transaction experiences in a client facing role.
Pilot, hands down. Or a writer, but only if I can make into the level of some of the well known novelists of our time.
Basketball coach
fighter pilot. or be a coach.
baseball coach for a high school, teacher, head hunter, writer
Liam Neeson in Taken.
Honestly, I haven't a damn clue. Is that bad?
I would go for CIA as well.

Captain of a Boeing 747/ 777 / 787 or Airbus A380 / A340 flying long-haul. Nothing like the feeling of flying one of the most sophisticated and advanced machines built by man at 35,000 feet, carrying 300+ people, and literally hopping across the world all in a day's work.
International relations and foreign service. I speak three languages, have lived in 4 countries, so it seems like the right secondary path
Real Estate Development. It's the family biz and it's not my cup of tea but it would be easy and profitable.
Medicine, I still haven't give the seat in my dual med program and they're willing to give me a 2 year break between UG and med so if I hate finance I have an easy way out.
Plastic surgeon - You can literally change peoples' lives, like the kids in third world countries with cleft lips and burn victims. That would be the pro bono work probably but then obviously do the things that get you paid well - lipo, B enhancements, nose jobs.
Product Management for a large media company like Time Warner.
Race car driver, Car Magazine editor/test driver, Test driver, the STIG
