Impersonation
I have an internship offer from a BB and I had someone recently impersonate my name and email an associate at the bank with several badly spelled words and cuss words at 12 AM on a Saturday. Got a call from a VP and thought my offer would be rescinded if I didn't convince them that it wasn't me. The person used proton mail. How do you think I could track them down?
How does something like this even happen
this is in my group at UBS, people vying for the last spot
this is actually disgusting behavior someone must needed a job really bad
I'd report to HR and IT asap. Wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't the first time it's happened.
As far as actually convincing them, you could show them your sent email history, and show that you didn't send it from your email.
Please follow up on what happens OP, this is pretty heinous behavior
I ended up filing a formal legal complaint online. Also talked to some people at the firm and they ended up understanding that it wasn't me. Hopefully authorities can track something down soon.
