Informational Interview with a Director

Hey guys! Just a quick question for you all. I have an informational interview with a boutique that i'm looking to get an off cycle internship at. I've had dozens of interviews with analysts and associates, but never a director of a firm.

Here's the catch. I mentioned in the email that i am looking for an internship and want to discuss opportunities with him. He agreed to chat with me, so i'm thinking it might be more of an interview. Should I still go the regular informational interview route and ask the basic questions? Should I mention the internship at the start or end? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Just my 2 cents, whenever you are having an informational, you should always be ready for the "Why x firm", "why banking?", and "why mm/bb/eb" questions. Seem generally interested in their background and be yourself. If the conversation stalls, bring up topics you prepared but don't disrupt a naturally flowing conversation. Personally, I would express your interest in the firm and the opportunity at the beginning of the conversation/tied into your story.

From my experience, most directors won't ask you technicals in an informational interview. Tell them specifically why you want to work for that firm as opposed to others and just be yourself. Do not try to come across as someone you are not because they will see right thru that. I would ask about the internship towards the end of the call and if they like you they will ask you to send over a resume after.
