Informational interview with PWC M&A/Deals Senior Associates- Help and Tips

Somehow I managed to get an informational interview with 2 Senior associates working in PwC's M&A operations I'm a bit stuck on what to ask them about. I know recent deals are a good way to go ,but what else should I ask them? Apart from basic stuff like how's the culture and how was your transition from X to Y.

And also where can I access information of deals that PwC have been a part of?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some tips and questions you might consider for your informational interview with PwC's M&A Senior Associates:

  1. Understanding Their Role:

    • "Can you walk me through a typical day in your role within M&A operations?"
    • "What are the most challenging aspects of your job and how do you manage them?"
  2. Industry Insights:

    • "What trends are you currently seeing in the M&A space?"
    • "How has the M&A landscape changed during your time at PwC?"
  3. Deal Dynamics:

    • "Can you discuss any recent deals that PwC has advised on that are public knowledge?"
    • "What role did PwC play in these deals, and what were the key success factors?"
  4. Career Path and Development:

    • "What has been your career path within PwC, and what advice would you have for someone looking to follow a similar trajectory?"
    • "How does PwC support your professional development and career growth?"
  5. Firm Culture and Values:

    • "How would you describe the culture at PwC, especially within the M&A team?"
    • "What values are most important to PwC's M&A practice?"
  6. Transition and Adaptation:

    • "How was your transition into the M&A role, and what skills were most important in making that transition successful?"
  7. Advice for Aspirants:

    • "What advice would you give to someone looking to enter the M&A field?"
    • "What skills or experiences do you think are essential for success in M&A at PwC?"

As for finding information on deals that PwC has been a part of, you can:

  • Check PwC's official website for press releases or deal announcements.
  • Look at financial news websites such as Bloomberg, Reuters, or the Financial Times for reported deals.
  • Use databases like Mergermarket, S&P Capital IQ, or Thomson Reuters Eikon, if you have access, to search for deal information where PwC was an advisor.
  • Review industry reports and publications that might list notable M&A transactions and the involved parties.

Remember, during an informational interview, it's also important to be a good listener and to tailor your questions based on the responses you receive. Good luck with your interview!
