Integrating Into Banking Culture

I am very excited to be joining a small vertical within a large bank in NYC after SAing a different firm in a different location. In calls with current junior staff, I've noticed that it is difficult to have office banter with some of them. I am worried about assimilating from a culture perspective due to this. Something I greatly enjoyed while being an SA was being able to discuss non work things during dinner and overall feel like friends with my coworkers.

Any advice on how to integrate yourself into a different team dynamic?

Thanks, I do my best to not let my alien roots show haha. I am thinking of asking to grab coffee with each of the analysts. Even though it might be more common for interns to this, since I'm new to the team it might be a good way to get to know them better.

Recently struck out with one of them with something along this line (bonus points if you can guess the team):

Me: "so have you been following XYZ basketball? It's great that they are such a Cinderella story upsetting the number two seed. "

Them: "Nope, I don't follow sports. Well, I'm staffed on 3 live deals currently so..."
