Internal mobility for BB SA's at the end of the summer?
Does anyone know what the process is for Summer Analysts wanting to switch divisions at the end of the summer, whether it be for FT or for another SA the following year
-Does HR formally reach out? -Is your return offer automatically forfeited?
hey @centrum this is what happened amongst my network of people in multiple BBs: - JPM: after successful SA went from S&T offer for Full Time to SA offer for IBD - Citi: after offer extension for Full Time in CMO following a SA, successfully switched into S&T Full Time
As a general note, when you are a good performer, especially in SA, mobility is very flexible - in case headcount is available. At Citi and JPM you are asked beforehand if you have interest in another division and the discussion with HR follows from there

A friend of mine received an offer from MS GCM for the summer. Would you guys know how easy/difficult it is to turn that into a full-time IBD offer within MS?

You could also leverage this offer to interview for IBD at other places.

Can you elaborate at all? My friend who summered in M&A said it isn't easy, but definitely doable. Looking through older threads, others on WSO have said it's quite possible as well.
I received an offer from MS GCM as well. You can always lateral over to banking for a third year, or apply to the new rotational program that enables you to join an IBD group after 18 months in GCM.

I am thinking about doing a second internship at Deutsche Bank, but the problem is that even though it is in their IBD (again trading & sales) its not in the field I would like to work in (M&A).
If I get an offer, will I be send to the analyst pool in London and can I then decide for wich IBD I want to work for?

No if you get an offer it will be for S&T, you'd have to interview separately for investment banking and I'm not sure you'd be able to do that. I know someone who did a summer internship in S&T his soph year and then was allowed to interview (and then received an offer) for investment banking for his junior year summer which is the one coming up.
I think you are as confused as you are about why interest rates are tax deductible.
IBD consists of M&A, DCM, ECM, LevFin, and Restructuring. S&T is a completely different division within a bank. ER, while sometimes collaborates with the IBD, is also a separate division.
