Internally Lateral from Corporate Banking to ECM?
Hey guys!
Just graduated from a target school and I'm starting as a corporate banking analyst at a BB (JPM, BAML) in about a month. Was wondering if it would be possible to internally lateral from corporate banking to ECM after finishing out the analyst role. I'm really interested in possibly staying in ECM long term. If not very likely, do you think getting an MBA would help make the transition?
For context, while my group is technically corporate banking, we also work on some M&A and equity deals as we're also industry coverage.
Would love to hear your thoughts.
Why would you ever want to do that? ECM is dead end. However CB is very transferable to DCM.
