Interview travel Expenses/no feedback

Interviewed over 2 months ago for a grad role at an MM Investment Bank (M&A). Process was ran through one of London's 'top' recruitment firms, 5-7 round process (can't even remember at this point). Did final-round interview over two months ago now and still have heard nothing from the recruiter following the final round - have phoned and emailed them with no response. They promised to refund interview travel expenses (which were >£150 as I am from Scotland) which I still have not received. Also got no feedback and still haven't been given my rejection - completely sucks with such a long process.

Does anyone have any advice on how best to recover the expenses? Would it be appropriate to contact the company’s internal HR team directly, or should I just accept the L at this point?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here’s how you can approach this situation:

  1. Follow Up with the Recruitment Firm: Since the recruitment firm promised to refund your travel expenses, continue to follow up persistently. Use multiple channels like phone calls, emails, and even LinkedIn messages to reach out to your contact at the firm. Be polite but firm in your communication, emphasizing the commitment they made to reimburse you.

  2. Contact the Company’s HR Team: If the recruitment firm remains unresponsive, it’s reasonable to reach out to the company’s internal HR team. Politely explain the situation, including the lack of feedback and the unreimbursed expenses. Keep your tone professional and focus on resolving the reimbursement issue rather than expressing frustration.

  3. Document Everything: Ensure you have a clear record of all communications, including emails, phone calls, and any promises made regarding reimbursement. This documentation will be helpful if you need to escalate the matter further.

  4. Consider Escalation: If neither the recruitment firm nor the company responds, you might consider escalating the issue. This could involve reaching out to a senior contact at the recruitment firm or even posting a professional review on platforms like LinkedIn or Glassdoor to highlight your experience.

  5. Learn and Move Forward: Unfortunately, situations like this can happen in competitive industries. While pursuing your reimbursement, also focus on other opportunities and ensure you’re not overly reliant on one process or firm.

Persistence and professionalism are key here. Good luck!

Had an interview this cycle at an EB in Houston. Similar situation. After 2 months you likely didn’t get the offer - sorry man. With that being said just reach out to your contacts there (HR/Juniors running the process) and tell them you still haven’t been reimbursed. Not a big deal at all. Sending a few follow-ups for a few hundred euro seems worth it to me
