Invited for an interview and then got a rejection email straight away

Hello everyone - hoping for some advice here; applied to UBS CCS Paris Off-cycle 2019 internship; Checked the status this morning - and it said 'We want to meet you - we have sent an email with more details' - I hadn't received the email so I followed up with HR- a couple of hours later, I received a rejection email. Any tips/suggestions on what I can now do? Obviously, I am super keen to do the Assessment Centre.

You probably have been rejected and it was a error sending out the acceptance email (poor form by them). However, I don't see any harm in you chasing them up on the issue to seek clarification for the error.

If it is a rejection then best of luck with your other applications.

Yeah, that's what I think. To be absolutely fair to them, they didn't send me an email - it was a status update that I saw on their portal. And now I am following up, on the off-chance that I get an interview somehow through all this mess
