Is Centerview really that good?
There's so much hype in the rankings, and they are on so many deals but there has to be a catch somewhere...hours are bad at every bank so that doesnt count

If you want a career in banking I don’t think anywhere else compares. 300 employees with $1.3B in revenue in 2020. Just do the math. Place is nuts.
Damn, didn't know it was that high. For context, PJT had roughly $1bn with 700 employees, Moelis will probably be a bit under that, but with 900 employees.
But, in terms of 2020 M&A transaction value, Moelis did $92bn and PJT did $35bn. (Not sure about unannounced RX and other areas)

There’s not really a catch other than it being really hard to get a job at Centerview. It’s the same shit as any other bank — they just get paid more to do it.

Was just on a deal with them where they got paid a couple million for more or less doing nothing. Never had them respond to emails or with materials outside of 9-7, it seems like a fake paradise for younger staff. They pay an obscene amount apparently as well
Feel like that’s a one off occurrence specific to your experience. Worked with them as a co-advisor on a buyside deal and those guys were grinders. Was impressed with their team and overall work product. Only negative in my experience was their damn color palette in decks.
