Is coasting a bad idea?

For context, I'm a first-year university student at an ok UK university and was lucky enough to receive spring week offers from Goldman Sachs and a few other BBs and EBs. After I received my offers I became quite pedantic about looking at different exit opportunities and conversion rates etc but realised it wasn't a great use of my time.

I've noticed that a lot of people who convert spring weeks still apply to summer internships the next year to get something "better" and attend networking events to try and recruit directly to the buyside and are still very involved with finance generally. I was wondering if there was any harm in not being so proactive after my spring weeks. I'll do what I can to make sure I convert at least 1 and I'm not really fussed about which I get and will probably just continue on with them as I don't really want to recruit again next year, I'll network where I can but I'm not looking to get overly absorbed into the industry before my summer internship. Just looking for other opinions on the possible downsides of basically coasting after/if I get a summer offer from a spring week. I'd still be reading up on market news and things like that since I am interested in the industry anyway but won't be looking for other opportunities like first-year summers or other buy-side opportunities.

My judgment is that you do want to coast through uni life, but the pressure from what others are doing is making you anxious.

If that's the case, just coast mate. No need to chase the dreams of others. Uni only happens once.
