How do the EBs Compare

Hey all- new to the forum here and I've read/heard a lot about a significant difference in comp of several EBs. I'm aware that EVR/CVP/PJT/Q are somewhat in a league of their own, but was curious more specifically about boutiques like MOE, GHL, and PWP- what does the comp look like for these firms and are there any special perks they provide compared to bulges/smaller boutiques? Was also curious how these three compare amongst each other in terms of exits and WLB.

Q and CVP are the only banks in leagues of their own in terms of comp. For top buckets, Moe=PJT>EVR/PWP; for mid, PJT=EVR>MOE/PWP. There are tons of threads on EB compensations so you should look for yourself if you want to check. PJT is the highest and least volatile for employ compensation while Evercore isn't the highest but good enough. Moelis can be very rewarding for top buckets, especially for A2As, but at what cost. Exit opps are pretty the same for all the boutiques you mentioned, maybe CVP, Q, and PWP to lesser extent just because of self-selection. For large-cap buyouts, having 3.9 GPA + target (Ivy tier) + PJT/EVR/MOE will guarantee you interviews at most places. However, getting an offer at any of the firms you mentioned will be already pretty challenging.

You sure about that? EVR/PWP are almost universally above MOE, especially at the associate level. It may differ across groups, but I have friends at all three where last year it went PWP>EVR>MOE with PWP/EVR being fairly close.

I’ve also seen quite a few posts here that consistently put EVR/PWP a good bit ahead of MOE.
